Friends of Suchana is the charity for which I’m a young trustee and have been for many years. They’re a sister charity for Suchana, which supports education for the tribal communities in West Bengal. In my gap year before university, I spent an amazing month out in India working with them on various projects they were running. Friends of Suchana (FoS) raises money in England to provide support for the wonderful projects Suchana is administering.

My main role in FoS is running their social media functions and specifically their Facebook page. I restructure and post the information sent to me by the Suchana staff and the other Trustees so it looks attractive and reads well. This allows their events and newsletters to reach more people and get more engagement. I’ve also helped out with organising their mailing list on MailChimp and I’ve supported the design of their newsletter using Microsoft Publisher.

These are all skills and experiences I can now happily apply to my client work! As I’m quite tech-savvy, it doesn’t take me long to learn how to use new software and apply these skills to improving efficiency. Plus, I love researching technology solutions, particularly cloud applications, to make sure the efficiencies come with the most flexibility but lowest possible price tag. I’m looking forward to applying the skills I’m learning to my work with clients as well as my ongoing support for FoS!
