What makes me different?
When creating a business, everyone always has that thought about – “Well, what makes me different from anyone else?”
Everyone can learn how systems work (even if some people can do it faster than others), most people, at least in the virtual assistant field, can be organised an manage their time well. So that leaves me to wonder… what makes me stand out?
I came up with these three values as the ones I believe set my business apart from others.
Communication
Above all when I’m working with people I believe communication is key! I always like to make sure I’m staying in touch with my clients, letting them know my progress and never assuming anything!
Whether this is through regular calls, WhatsApp, texts, emails, or project management software, having clearly established lines of communication is vital.
Compassion
We never truly know what’s going on in other peoples lives.
When you work in a social industry, an industry that is built on human connection and trust, it’s so important to have compassion.
To not assume the worst of people, to trust them, to listen to their why and to care about their boundaries.
I’m an incredibly empathetic person (which has its advantages and disadvantages, e.g. being able to relate to people deeply but also crying at least once a day).
I believe this gives me an advantage though as I’m able to easily put myself in your shoes and really understand the levels of stress, anxiety, and excitement that your business will give you on a day to day.
Consistency
The best way to get something done is to just do it.
It takes motivation to start something but consistency and dedication to keep it going.
No one in the world is motivated every day… it takes self-discipline to keep it going even when you don’t want to, even when you’re tired, even when it feels like you’re not making progress, that’s when you have to stay consistent!
I’m an extremely consistent person. I have strict schedules that I stick to. In fact, I’ll let you in on a secret, if my schedules are disrupted I can get quite stressed! But that’s because it’s these schedules that allow me to get everything done. Both for my business and for yours.
