As we’re just past the midpoint for this year I thought it would be a good time for a goals check-in. This is where I go over the goals I set for myself at the beginning of the year and see where I’m at with them. It’s a good chance to get an idea of what I need to work on and what can take a back seat!

Let’s start with broadening my volunteer work.

So I’ve fallen off the wagon with broadening my volunteer work. I am still volunteering with rainbows and brownies (girl guides) but that’s paused over the summer holidays. And because work is super busy right now, which is a blessing, it’s meant I have very little spare time on the weekdays. And the weekends have been packed with lovely things too!

I feel bad that I’m not prioritising this but honestly, I’m just not able to right now. When late autumn and winter kick in my social life tends to slow down so I’m going to have to go for an end of year push with this one.

Read 52 books, one for each week of the year

I’ve technically completed this as I’ve read 52 books as of August! Obviously, I’m not just going to stop reading. It’s literally my favourite thing ahaha. So now I guess I’m just going to see how many I end up reading! Let me know if you guys are interested in any book recommendations!

Walking outside every day

I’ve continued to do this and it’s one of my favourite things. Even if it’s absolutely pouring out (which it basically has been for the last month) I’ve still taken the time to walk outside. Sometimes I only manage 10mins but I’ve done it.

I love this because as someone who works at a desk at home all day I used to often find myself realising that I hadn’t left the house in a few days and that I was much more depressed if that happened. Now that I get out every day I feel much more connected to everything and less isolated.

Visit a new country

I had plans to do this in September but they’ve fallen through due to busyness! So we are definitely not on track for this one. If you’re a friend or family member of mine reading this and fancy a long weekend to a new country in autumn or winter, hit me up!

Run a half marathon

I’ve started my running training and I’m up to running 10 km now! I’m going to keep increasing my distance as well as continuing my strength training. I was worried that I’d start to get really bored of running long distances but I actually find it invigorating. Not gonna lie, it’s definitely dull occasionally, but hitting new milestones all the time keeps me going!

Reducing time on social media

I have a password-controlled limit set on my social media that only my partner knows and this is working well to reduce my social media intake. Although I’ve found a few workarounds that have had to be squashed here and there I’m more or less doing okay!

How are you doing on your 2023 goals? Let me know in the comments!
